Welcome to the Bliss Photography Blog here at Squarespace.  I'm Mishelle and simply put I'm a mom, a wife, a daughter, a friend and a photographer.  I love what I do, and I do what I love.  I guess that makes me one lucky girl!

My love affair with photography began a long time ago.  And although life took me in other directions, it has always been a constant thread in my life.  As a little girl, I was fascinated that one photograph could spark such an emotion in me.  A smile.  A giggle.  A tear.  Sometimes, an image would even take my breath away or make my heart skip a beat.

    Isn't that amazing?

Most days, I'm just a mommy with a camera and an untamed passion for photography.  But whether it is my own family in front of the lens or yours, I strive to create images that will spark that same emotion.  As a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister and a friend, I embrace how quickly children grow, families change, friendships evolve and love blooms.

This will be the place where I will post sneek peeks from recent sessions, promotions, news and of course a peek into my little life.

My Life | Closing out our summer.

Wow, I cannot believe that another summer has come and gone.  Really, can you?  We had a great summer, took a few vacations, helped daddy turn 40 and even, spent lots of time with family and friends.  Labor day is usually a little bitter-sweet filled with the last little hoorah for summer and even a little itch for some cool, crisp, beautiful fall weather.  The past few years, we took a trip to lake Michigan for the long holiday weekend and had a wonderful time.  But this year is a little different with my hubby in full-swing campaign mode he just couldn't get time away.  Which is fine by me because that only meant one thing for me and Jillian .... road trip!

My best, best friend recently moved with her family to Chicago and I was looking for a perfect excuse to go out and visit them.  They haven't even been gone very long, but I miss them like someone took my heart out and set it on a shelf.  And it was soooo good to see their smiling faces!  We spent the whole weekend together, took the kids down to the lake, drank lots of wine, ate delicious food and even squeezed in time for a little photo session.  It was as if no time had passed since they left.  And that's the way it should be when you love someone as much as I love these guys.

    My favorite girls ...

Yesterday, we headed out to a little city nearby called Long Grove, which Sara was dying to take me to.  Far from the busy hustle and bustle of the Miracle Mile, we found ourselves in the middle of an adorable little downtown.  We  quickly found a quaint little Italian restaurant, ordered up a bottle of wine, spaghetti for the kids and had such a good time.  We walked through the town (where there was an Irish Festival going on!) and even snapped a few pics of the kids while we were there.

And no weekend would be complete without a giant bubble bath party!  Oh my gosh the kids had so much fun and of course, Jillian was the culprit dumping water on the boys every chance she got.  Too bad putting (really cute) pics of naked kids up on my blog just isn't cool.  But here are a few cute ones.  I haven't gottne a bath shot of Jillian in almost 2 years!  I love this one.

I miss them already and I'm counting the days until we can see eachother again...

Sneek Peek | Sweet family, sweet session.

I wanted to share some images from a really sweet session that I had last week on an early evening out at Cranbrook with Rachel and her family.  These are some of my favorite family images to date and hope to have daddy join us next time.  There's something so simple about hanging out under an old oak tree while the sun begins to set.  The light was just right, Rachel was glowing, and the kids were angels - I mean sweet little magical photographer's perfect subjects - angels.  And I hope Rachel loves these as much as I do.  Enjoy =)

    Weddings | Dann + Amanda

are married!  And despite the torrential downpour that myself and my second, and third shooter had to endure during the three hour drive to Grand Rapids, it was a perfectly beautiful day.  Amanda looked stunning and we even managed to sneek out of the reception to catch some of the amazing light at sunset.

The details that went into her wedding day and reception did not go unnoticed.  Amanda opted for a vintage style wedding, complete with classic cars that drove the newlyweds and their wedding party to the reception.  Oh yes, another classic car wedding and I was like a kid in a candy store!

Dann and Amanda ... wishing you both happiness as you start o your journey together as husband and wife.  I hope you had a great time on your cruise and arrived safely back home to finish building your life together, literally!  I am so happy that you found me and chose me to capture your special day for you.  From that rainy day in November that we first met for your Love Shoot to your wedding day, I enjoyed getting to know you both and wish you a lifetime of happiness.  Enjoy your sneek peek!

Thank you, thank you thank you to Tana and Aubri.  The wedding chicks =)
