Welcome to the Bliss Photography Blog here at Squarespace.  I'm Mishelle and simply put I'm a mom, a wife, a daughter, a friend and a photographer.  I love what I do, and I do what I love.  I guess that makes me one lucky girl!

My love affair with photography began a long time ago.  And although life took me in other directions, it has always been a constant thread in my life.  As a little girl, I was fascinated that one photograph could spark such an emotion in me.  A smile.  A giggle.  A tear.  Sometimes, an image would even take my breath away or make my heart skip a beat.

    Isn't that amazing?

Most days, I'm just a mommy with a camera and an untamed passion for photography.  But whether it is my own family in front of the lens or yours, I strive to create images that will spark that same emotion.  As a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister and a friend, I embrace how quickly children grow, families change, friendships evolve and love blooms.

This will be the place where I will post sneek peeks from recent sessions, promotions, news and of course a peek into my little life.

    Wedding | Joe + Jessica

A long over due peek into Joe and Jessica's wedding is here!  What a fabulous day they had despite the rain, the wind and ...did I mention the rain?  When I showed up to Jessica's house, the room was lit with her amazing smile, and cool as a cucumber attitude.  Rain?  What rain?  Oh, and it's raining sideways?  Cool!

Talk about being a flexible photographer.  This outdoor wedding was far from a wash.  The light under the gazebo was delectible and the wind did nothing but add a little drama which was just perfect.  Jessica looked stunning, absolutely stunning!  It took everything I had in me to stop shooting her for just a second.  She was lit up and glowing as every bride should be.  After all, she was marrying her love, Joe.

Jessica and Joe ...  congratulations to you both, what an amazing day you had from start to finish.  I remember that Jessica mentioned to me a few weeks before your wedding that she was marrying the perfect man for her and I'm certain she is exactly right.  I am so happy for you both and wish you the very best in starting your new life together thousands of miles from what you've come to know as home.  Enjoy =)

Sara Nitz, and her talented team from Salon Epiphany in Taylor did an amazing job with Jessica and her girls.

If you look closely, you can see the ran coming down ... sideways.

It's no secret.  Jessica and Joe's last name is Martini.  So, it was only fitting that we hit a martini bar for their group shots!

News | Away from my desk.

I will be out of the office until I return from Chicago on Saturday.  I have been answering most wedding, portrait inquiries and e-mails via my Blackberry.  But if I have missed you, I apologize.  If you have recently sent me an e-mail or left a voicemail, and have not hear back from me, I will get back to you first thing on Monday.  Thanks!

My Life | Snuggle, read, snuggle.

This weekend, Jillian I laid low and did a whole lot of nothing.  I had a session cancel on Saturday because of the looming rain so that left us with not much to do.  Which was a blessing.  We headed out to a book sale at the library here in Taylor and found a few great reads.  I was ecstatic when I got my hands on my favorite childhood book of all time, The Wizard of Oz.  I also found an ancient (c. 1933) copy of Hans Christian Andersen's fairytales. It includes many greats such as Thumbelina and The Emperor's New Clothes.

So that's what Jillian and I did on our lazy, fall Saturday.  We snuggled, read and snuggled some more.  Our family dog, Penny enjoyed it, too.  It was wonderful.

Love Shoot | Mike + Teresa

Oh, how I loooove my clients.  Every. Single. One.  I think what I love most is that they are all so different from eachother.  So many photographers seem to attract the same type, genre, age, ethnicity of client, but this is not true with me.  And I wouldn't have it any other way!

We tossed around so many different locations when planning where to do their Love Shoot.  I had met Teresa and Mike last year when they booked me, and I knew these two were unique, expressive, and edgy.   It was important for me to help them choose a location that was a reflection of who they were and a place that would be anything but traditional.  So we ended up shooting early in the morning, underneath a viadock in the heart of Detroit in one of the roughest neighborhoods around.  There were cars zooming by us, and even stray (and pretty mean looking) dogs checking us out. But we didn't even notice as we shot as if we were on a Hollywood set.  I'm pretty sure we nailed the location for them and we all love the way their session turned out.

Mike and Teresa ... you guys rock.  Seriously, rock.  And if your love shoot is even a little peek into what your wedding day is going to be like, the anticipation is going to kill me.  The two of you are so sweet, and I loved getting to know the two of you better.  I appreciate who you are and the love and admiration that you have for eachother is undeniable.

A little bit about Bliss Love Shoots:

A Love Shoot is my version of an engagement session.  A very not-so-traditional engagement session!  Shooting time is generally 2 hours, and can be shot anywhere your little heart desires.  I love to shoot in new locations, and it's important to me that the Love Shoot be shot somewhere that is a reflection of it's subjects.

All Bliss Wedding Collections include a Love Shoot.  But that's not to say I haven't shot many Love Shoots for clients who have been married a long time, aren't engaged yet, or simply want to celebrate their love with some saaaweet photography!  Aside from wedding, I'm pretty sure that Love Shoots come in a close second as being my favorite type of session to shoot.

    Seniors | Kallie

I love shooting senior sessions.  They are few and far between for me, but when I do get the chance to shoot them I am reminded of how much I love them!  The other day, I shot Kallie's senior session at (none other than my favorite place to shoot) the Conservatory here in Taylor.  Initially, we planned to meet at the Henry Ford Estate at sunset but a private event at the Estate threw us a curveball and we ended up at the Conservatory.

And let me just say, I am soooo glad we did.  The flowers were in full bloom and we had a blast!  Kallie is so young and fresh and vibrant and I loved shooting with her and we had so much fun together.  Right away, she opened up to me and flashed that amazing and beautiful smile.

Kallie, as promised here's your little peek from our time together!

Bliss Senior Sessions start at $150

    Print Packages start at $400
